History

In 2000, Jennie Bishop published the children’s book The Princess and the Kiss with Warner Press. This parable about a princess who saved her kiss for a prince began to sell and attract the attention of parents, children and ministry leaders all over the world. A simple tool to help promote purity in the lives of children, The Princess and the Kiss was the first book of its kind. The story was easy to understand and teach from, and innocent enough for the youngest ages to learn concepts of purity.

The Princess and the Kiss and the follow-up book for boys, The Squire and the Scroll, birthed parent/child group studies, small group discussions and princess and squire “clubs.” Parents were inspired to teach their children the concept of purity in their youngest years. As Jennie began speaking on the subject of purity in connection with her books, it became apparent to her that there was an urgent need to provide parents with strategies to build a foundation in children that would lead them towards the embrace of sexual purity via purity of heart and to provide the tools to implement those strategies. Jennie called this approach Planned Purity.

PurityWorks was formed in the spring of 2005 to facilitate the ongoing message of Planned Purity, and the first PurityWorks conference took place in Michigan. By fall of 2005, the Bishop family had relocated to Central Florida, and PurityWorks became a not-for-profit corporation. Now PurityWorks facilitates opportunities to teach Planned Purity all over the world, through conferences and speaking engagements in America and overseas efforts in foreign countries, in an effort to provide liberty through purity everywhere.
